President, Donald Trump, made illegal immigration a big part of his campaign. The former star of The Apprentice  even proposed building a wall that Mexico would pay for. With that being said: Should Millions of Undocumented Immigrants Be Allowed to Live in the U.S. Without Fear of Getting Deported?

The Government’s Position

If you go back to the 1986, then President, Ronald Reagan allowed millions of undocumented workers to stay in the United States via the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (ICRA). With this program a selected few were allowed to stay in the U.S., but had to pay a fine for being here illegally. In addition, employers that intentionally hired undocumented immigrants were fined as well. The program was not a huge success in stopping illegal immigration, but it gave roughly three million people a change for a better life.

My Opinion

If an undocumented immigrant has not broken any laws, I see no reason for them to be deported. I support amnesty for the illegal immigrants that are law abiding citizens. Them being here may not be legal, but if they broke no laws, I say give them a chance. Many would argue that they are taking jobs and resources away from Americans, but I view this situation differently. If I am correct, the British fled England for religious freedom and North America did not belong to them, it belong to the Native Americans. If you want to be technical they stole land from them and became illegal immigrants themselves. However, the bad ones have to go. If they are breaking the law deport them.
