Tax time! When people do their taxes, it should be a season of the year. You hear the timeframe called tax time, so why not make it official? The experience lasts for months and if you are one of the unfortunate saps, it lasts all year long.
Most years I must admit we get a refund. This year, we do not owe, thank goodness, but unbeknownst to me, my ex had a school loan debt. Guess where OUR refund went and next year's, too. Unfortunately, I do not even know what to say to that.
Hopefully, I will be filing an Injured Spouse Relief form, 8379. I doubt if I get anything back though. Being a stay at home has its advantage until tax time comes around, then I do not have any reportable income. The only reason I file with my ex is that we are legally still married and since he uses the kids as deductions he can get more money back which we split evenly. Now I don't even have that as a source of income this year. [sam id="" codes="true"]
My head is going to explode. There is so much to do and all of it seems to be left up to me if I want any part of the refund. My hope is someone will have some ideas on how to help. After being out of the workforce for 15 years, starting over at minimum wage barely puts food on the table.
All my excitement for life drained years ago, after I was married. He sucked the life right out of me. Problem after problem, fix after fix drains a person. I'm not trying to have a poor me post. I just need to see this written and wrap my head around what I am going through. I barely have the energy to get out of bed as it is and now this! Enough with the bad...
Even though tax time is going to suck for me this year, maybe you will get a refund. Best of luck with your government obligations. Seems I had one I did not know anything about. I do not see why I have to pay for his education when we were not together. His girlfriend should have to help pay for it, not me. They are the ones that took the schooling together. Grrrr... Tax time can also be a good time though. You get your tax money back and the shopping spree commences. You buy what you need, but did not have the money for, and then, you buy what you want. Some people take vacations with their refunds. That is what should happen with some of the money. Use it on yourself, it is somewhat of a windfall that you were not expecting.
End of Winter to beginning of Spring
It should definitely be a recognized season.
